Before coming to Everest Group, Anil Vijayan worked for a multinational professional services firm on the advisory side. He was content with the position, but a new opportunity at Everest Group caught his eye. He was intrigued by the potential new challenge and was compelled to learn more.

He began the initial steps of the interview process, but he still wanted to do his own investigating. In his digging, he discovered that one of his old friends from B-school worked for Everest Group. He reached out to his friend for the insider info, and it didn’t take long before he was convinced.

“I got what I needed to know. Hearing from someone I trust that Everest Group is a place where you can grow and be part of an innovative team was enough for me,” he said.

“There are a few pillars at Everest Group that we stand by, like teamwork, the sense that we have a collective goal or purpose, the encouragement of entrepreneurship, and the freedom to act on and carry out new ideas and concepts.”

A culture with trust brings innovation

Ultimately, the main driver that led Anil to Everest Group was the culture. “It can be difficult to pinpoint, but over time it becomes very apparent how important a good work culture is,” he said. “At the end of the day, you work very closely with a group of people for extended periods of time, and essentially you give them a large part of your life. You want the culture and people around you to be aligned to the same values as your own,” he said.

And despite the steady growth of Everest Group, Anil believes the culture has remained intact. “There are a few pillars at Everest Group that we stand by, like teamwork, the sense that we have a collective goal or purpose, the encouragement of entrepreneurship, and the freedom to act on and carry out new ideas and concepts,” he said.

Anil also explains that the employees at Everest Group don’t take shortcuts or cut corners when it comes to the work delivered. “We work hard and take pride in what we deliver, and this aligns with what I look for in a work culture and my values as well,” he said.

The freedom to grow

In fact, it’s the opportunity to try out new approaches that make Anil so enthusiastic about his work at Everest Group. “What has excited me about my career at Everest Group is the ability to change and grow. The opportunity to try new concepts and explore new research areas is always there, or even just the chance to put up my hand and ask if I can take something on or try out an idea,” he said.

Anil has been with Everest Group now for nearly six years, and his career has taken many turns since he joined. When he first came to Everest Group, he was a Practice Director in the HR and talent practice where he spent a couple of years developing research in this space and eventually took on service optimization technologies, or automation technology, as an additional research focus. Then in a little over three years, he moved to Vice President. “I was given the opportunity to grow, volunteer in other areas, and was encouraged along the way,” said Anil.

“What has excited me about my career at Everest Group is the ability to change and grow. The opportunity to try new concepts and explore new research areas is always there, or even just the chance to put up my hand and ask if I can take something on or try out an idea.”

Today Anil is a Partner at Everest Group and has just transferred to London, England. “Overall, I’ve had a great experience at Everest Group. There are instances that really stand out to me, where I have identified particular topics or trends that organizations should know about or that we as a firm should research, and it’s been very encouraging to see these areas take off,” he said. “I’m proud of these instances when my research has helped organizations to be knowledgeable of what’s changing in the market,” he said.

Growth is always around the corner at Everest Group

Everest Group has evolved over the past few years, especially since Anil began with the firm. “It’s been very interesting to see the way we’ve grown, because you can really see how our brand, and overall recognition, has become more established as a research firm,” said Anil. “I think we’re just scratching the surface in this journey of growth, and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next,” he said.
