Leadership
Hank Satterthwaite
Hank Satterthwaite is an innovative and energetic leader, skilled communicator/team builder, and adept negotiator with a record of success at building and managing consulting/professional services businesses within established product companies. He founded and managed Gartner’s IT strategy consulting business, has served as a management consultant to information technology companies leading major transformation activities, and has extensive experience working on Boards of Directors and with venture capital firms.
Before joining Everest Group, Hank was an independent Management Consultant advising venture firms and growing technology firms. Prior to his consultancy, he was the Managing Partner at The INSIGHT Group and led organizations in transforming from product to services-oriented businesses. Hank served as Senior Vice President – Global Consulting and Corporate Officer at Meta Group. While there, he acquired and integrated six non-US distributors into the organization, created metrics and processes to efficiently manage a worldwide consulting organization, and increased efficiencies in the firm’s sales and delivery processes. In his position as CEO of OPCENTER LLC, a professional services and staffing firm supporting major financial institutions in New York City, he created a multimillion-dollar Web application development group. As President and CEO of Snickelways interactive, Hank transformed the company’s business strategy from a VC-back dot-com company to a Fortune 1000 client base. He successfully closed this under-capitalized business during a major economic downturn, avoiding bankruptcy.
Over a six-year period, Hank held positions as Sr. Vice President, President, and General Manager at Gartner. He founded GartnerConsulting, an IT strategy consulting firm serving Fortune 1000 companies. He also played a key role in Gartner’s acquisition strategy, consummated eight acquisitions (including operational integration in six countries) and opened 22 new offices in 16 countries. Hank’s leadership and success in growing the practice prompted Gartner to alter its strategy from a products business to a service and consulting business. Earlier career positions include Managing Director-Professional Services at Wang Labs and Managing Director-Professional & Software Services International at Andersen Consulting. He played a key role in establishing Andersen’s business outside the United States. He also held various positions at IBM, rising from Sales Representative to Director of Midrange Product Marketing at IBM Europe.
Hank holds a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Yale University.
