Rahul Gujral
Principal
Rahul Gujral’s core skills are in leading clients through the development and execution of operating strategies. He backs this up by supporting the development of the organizations required to implement the strategies. He is a major contributor in developing an objective business case and facilitating a transaction when appropriate, with effective communication to clients on the potential value in sourcing initiatives. He is a trusted advisor, using collaborative approaches to engage client teams and executives in focusing on the most critical issues in addressing their corporate challenges. Rahul is also a key contributor to internal Everest initiatives including development of new methodologies, as well as recruiting and mentoring consultants.
As a Principal, he works with senior client stakeholders to ensure that their business objectives are reflected in the day to day work of the Engagement Team. Rahul plans all aspects of an outsourcing procurement lifecycle and serves as a focal point in structuring transactions. He has a comprehensive knowledge of finance and accounting, human resources, IT applications, IT infrastructure, and other back office support functions. He has served clients in a variety of industries, including consumer packaged goods (CPG), energy, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, media, retail, telecommunications, transportation and travel/hospitality.
Before joining Everest Group, Rahul was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company for five years, advising leading companies on a broad range of strategic, financial, organizational, and operational issues. He led the efforts at a large publicly owned Canadian utility company in marketing aspects of a strategic plan, resulting in increasing revenue by US$250 million in two years and US$500 million in the third year.
Also at McKinsey, in what became the largest domestic utility merger ever, Rahul performed a corporate strategy review and refined the clients’ wholesale trading and international development business units; he also developed profiles of potential merger partners based on strategic fit. He performed a diagnostic evaluation of a trading subsidiary’s risk management and operations after a series of trading losses, identifying the root causes of poor financial performance.
Prior to McKinsey, Rahul was a Principal at EnerTech Capital, a private equity fund, where he was responsible for developing investment strategy, evaluating investment opportunities, structuring client transactions, and managing portfolio companies.
Rahul has a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences (with a concentration on Physics) and a Master of Arts in International Studies (with a concentration in Europe and Germany) from the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science. in Economics (with a concentration in Finance) and an MBA in Operations and Information Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is fluent in German.
